Proto Exotica Pres. Courtney Bailey & Richard Fribert

Proto Exotica returns to Angel Music Bar for another late-night session rooted in deep listening, long blends and shared dancefloor trust. This time, joined by special guests Courtney Bailey and Richard Fribert!

Courtney Bailey is a DJ, producer and party organiser from Japan, now based in Berlin. She first made her mark founding the underground rave NOCOMPLY in Shinkiba, before gaining wider attention with her 2023 debut EP Soleil on Hole and Holland. In 2025, she released I Wanna Feel You on Australian label Animals Dancing, followed by In Dream on Music From Memory — further cementing her hazy, acid-leaning sound and emotionally charged production. As a DJ, Courtney has played across Europe and Asia, including Panorama Bar (Berlin), WOMB (Tokyo), Klymax (Bali) and Fuji Rock Festival, with sets defined by warmth, tension and an intuitive sense of flow.

Richard Fribert is a Swedish digger and selector based in Paris, known for his deep crates and wide-angle approach to dance music. Drawing heavily from rare ’80s global grooves, his sets move freely between balearic, boogie, disco and new beat, folding in influences from bhangra, zouk, MPB, axé, Italo, electro, hip house and beyond. He is the head of Quartier Groove alongside MOQST, a member of the No Standards Paris collective, and the producer behind Sueño Almohade (Rework), distributed by Bordello a Parigi. Outside the booth, Fribert is also active as an event organiser between Paris and Copenhagen.

Hosting the night is Proto Exotica, continuing their ongoing Angel Music Bar series — slow-burning openings, sideways selections and carefully shaped arcs designed for dancers who stay.
