Chingyi Invites Marco Maldarela (Omen Wapta, Bologna) + Marina Ruiz (Hong Kong)

About

At the edge of modern psychedelic techno and tribe-infused music, Marco Maldarella dwells into a bottomless abyss with his fast-paced sound signature. He brings high-definition IDM glitches and contemporary left-field electronic music into a deep post-tribe experience, crafting intricate sonic narratives that merge hypnotic tension with raw energy.

Always fascinated by the interplay of visual arts, technology, and left-field music, his sound is a convergence of multiple recognizable influences: contemporary experimental music, organic textures, monolithic and almost primal rhythms, atmospheres drenched in drones, and ephemeral voices, all contributing to a deeply psychoactive and tactile soundscape.
Collaborating with Christian Duka, he founded MARMO, an ongoing live duo that navigates the boundaries between ambient and dance music, refining a distinctive artistic vision through live performances and audiovisual productions for clubs and festivals across Europe. Alongside Abo Abo (co-owner of DE RIO) and Amanita (Berlin-based multidisciplinary artist), he co-founded Sinestesie, a touring event series with a monthly residency at Radio Raheem (Milan).

In July 2024, Marco released his debut solo EP on Omen Wapta, solidifying his approach to contemporary techno through intricate structures and a visceral, narrative-driven sonic identity. This trajectory continued with Silent Logic, a release that further explores restraint, tension, and perception, refining his language through reduced forms and heightened emotional precision.

His sound design has been featured in independent film soundtracks and live visual performances at Ambivalen+ London, ArtFutura, Xolo, and Spektrum Berlin. Marco’s productions reflect the unpredictable, chaotic tale of an atomic fall towards oneself, where the infinitesimally small and the infinitely large coincide in the creative moment. Time bends and adapts in service of an imperceptible revelation, as his compositions traverse ancient reminiscence and contemporary club subcultures with an exasperated minimalism that leaves no detail behind.
Complex, elegant, profound. Open to any change.

Chingyi
Chingyi’s musical expression has emerged as one of Hong Kong’s most original voices — an artist purposefully standing in a lane of her own. Born in this harbour city, she grew up in the mountains of Sichuan and later in Shanghai, transfixed by the singing and dancing found in the animistic processions of the Yi people. Chingyi has moved between land and water for as long as she can remember — a rhythm that resonates throughout her life and music alike.

Her ongoing exploration of resilience shapes her art: a bass-driven, grounded grip intertwined with meandering waterscapes that aim to submerge.

Well known for her hands-on, community-based approach, Chingyi’s earlier work in sustainability and labour rights — within both corporate and startup environments — eventually left her somewhat disillusioned. Realizing that patching the system’s cracks only kept the machine running became a turning point. It pushed her toward a DJ career rooted in music, underground culture, holistic health, and Hong Kong’s lush natural environment.

Her sound spreads like mycelium, drawing influences from IDM, freetekno, breaks, and psychedelic trance, branching into deeper forms of techno, downtempo, and ambient. Yet at the core remains hypnosis, narrative, and the dancer’s body — a deep understanding that to play music is to evoke ritual.

After co-hosting Hong Kong’s festival Interlude back in 2019, Chingyi went on to perform at Rustival, Omni, Midori, Wild Lotus, and Pitch, while continuing to share booths and nurture long-standing friendships with the Distrikt, Liminal Space, Goldway, Dark Metaz, Y2K, and Rezonate collectives — touring China with the latter two in 2024.

She has performed in clubs such as Pools, Riff, System, Dada Beijing, SOLO, and guested on Changsha Community Radio and BYYB Radio in Shanghai. Chingyi has also played at Hong Kong and China’s underground staples — Acadana, 宀 Club, TAG, Wigwam, Clinic, Gong, among others — alongside artists such as Spekki Webbu, Occa, Notte Infinita, and Temple Rat.

This summer, Chingyi made her European debut at the alternative club space Outra Cena in Lisbon. Earlier in 2025, she was invited by Vladimir Ivkovic to collaborate on the anti-algorithmic radio platform ROVR, earning a monthly curator seat for her show Through The Third Ear.

Not one to cater to the demands of the times, Chingyi has nonetheless found her place — and a loyal following — through the sheer, seductive quality of her selections, her open invitation, and her quiet affirmation that, for some of us, it’s not always about the night.

Marina Ruiz
Between high techno, deep house, and world music, Marina curates a vanguard upbeat quest felt under cinematic transitions. Knitting them together, a journey of living moments metaphored into sounds charging towards unity.
All the while in Hong Kong, Marina Ruiz still lives in a Mediterranean-Armenian soup of earthly and otherwordly delights.

Both cultural and musical melting pot of taste, her selection feels cohesive and authentic. Pouring acid instead of spice, part high techno part bones-deep house - it goes on to burn a little, but it's saying all the things she might not say otherwise, and it is an incredibly pleasurable burn.

Since 2020 played in kitchens and cinemas of 宀 club, Omni, Soho house and more, marching to the vanguard beat of her community.
