snd.rtrn presents Kiju (MTL), Dan Only, MAÏÏ, Ester Shiner

The snd.rtrn crew is thrilled to launch our inaugural indoor event at Sounds Good this upcoming Saturday, December 20th! With the recent news of Sounds Good closing, we are deeply saddened to hear of yet another one of this city's very best venues closing its doors. We are honoured to have this final opportunity to celebrate this space and spotlight some of our all time favourite selectors!

Kiju (MTL, Layer 05), Dan Only (TOR, Backbreaks Records), MAÏÏ (TOR/NY, Contact Magique), and Ester Shiner (TOR, snd.rtrn) will be diving deep into their bottomless crates: expect a blend of ethereal down-tempo, house, leftfield-techno, bass, world-music and more; a swirling combination of sound guaranteed to keep you shuffling all night long.
Artist Lineup:

A key player in Montreal's DIY electronic music circuit as a DJ, organizer, and dancefloor specialist. Seoul-born and currently loving in Tio'tia:ke/Montréal, kiju has been tirelessly involved in her city’s DIY circuit since the tail end of the pandemic as a DJ, organizer, and dancefloor specialist. Behind the decks, kiju has been noticed for her versatile yet dance-centric range which has landed her performances alongside esteemed artists like Laurel Halo and Patrick Russell. Kiju is also a core organizer of the notable Layer05 outdoor summer rave series, as well as a dedicated member of the MTL DIY community year-round.

Dan Only is a Tkaronto-based, Juno-Nominated, Producer, Musician and DJ. He’s the head honcho over at Back Breaks Records and is also one half of the electronic duo, Cloudsteppers, a collaborative project with fellow Toronto producer Ciel. You can also catch him as a part of River Tiber’s live trio. With releases on Peach Discs, 3024, X-Kalay, Dirt Crew, New Kanada and Hâws; Dan Only is steadily carving out a discography that touches on all dimensions of his sonic explorations. Having shared bills with Kettema, Baltra, DJ Seinfeld, Martyn, Virginia, Sully, and Darwin, to name a few, he’s also proving his worth as an eclectic DJ that isn’t pinned to one style or genre.

MAÏÏ is a DJ and co-founder of Contact Magique, a Tkaronto based non-profit curating independently produced electronic music events rooted in community. Operating out of New York and Tkaronto, MAÏÏ has recently returned home after appearances at @elsewherespace, @bossanovacivicclub and @thelotradio. MAÏÏ is also an organizer for DJs Against Apartheid, advocating for Palestinian liberation through cultural resistance and collective action.

From snd.rtrn, Ester.shiner will be stepping up to the plate. A producer, DJ and organizer, Ester first cut their teeth in the city as a member of Sandwich District. Expect dubby basslines, leftfield breaks, and rolling kicks to move your feet.
